My initial draft of Crazy Crazy Crazy II was a bit long, at 39 days, well beyond Susan’s guideline
of 30 days. Plus I wanted to add Irain Jaya (Dutch New Guinea) to our Asia cruise in June
25, which would have made that trip over 40 days. My solution was simple, create another trip. As an added bonus I can add Ogasawara, an
archipelago reachable only via a cruise from Tokyo. Plus the trip is under 30 days.
The cruise to Ogasawara leaves weekly, but not on a consistent day
of the week. I am crafting this as if we
board the boat on a Sunday, but the dates for the entire trip may have to be
adjusted +/- 5 days either way.
We call this trip Crazy Crazy Crazy III
Day 1 Friday, January

We leave
Washington, DC for Tokyo.
Day 2 Saturday, January 31
Depending on what
flight we take, we may arrive in Tokyo late today or the morning of the next
day.
Day 3 Sunday, February 1
Late morning we
board our cruise
to the Ogasawara islands.
Day 4 -7 Monday -
Wednesday, February 2 - 4
We arrive in Chichijima 24 hours after leaving Tokyo and will stay 3
nights.
Day 8 Thursday,
February 5
We reboard the boat, at
11:00am
Day 9 Friday, February

We arrive back in
Tokyo midafternoon and stay overnight.
Day 10 Saturday, February
7
We fly to Jakarta,
Indonesia. We should arrive early evening
and will have to hang out at the airport until just after midnight for an
overnight flight to Sorong.
Day 8 Sunday, February
8
We arrive in Sorong
early in the morning and hang out until we take a ferry to at 2:00pm to Raja
Ampat. We likely will stay at the Yenatar Resort
and after checking we can snorkel and visit Gam Bay.
Day 9 Monday,
February 9
A full day tour to
Yenbraimuk, Piaynemo, Yeben, Hidden Bay and Kabui
Passage, returning to the resort in the evening.
Day 10 Tuesday,
February 10
We take the 14:00 ferry back to Sorong, but first
a bit of snorkeling in the morning before lunch, then transfer to Waisai and continue to Sorong. In Sorong, there isn’t
really anything interesting to do, maybe just get a get a pizza at Terrazza. and stay at
the Aston
Hotel
Day 11 Wednesday,
February 11
We take an early
morning flight to Jakarta and continue on to Perth, arriving just after
midnight.

We’ll catch up on
our sleep and see a bit of metropolitan Perth
Day 13-19 Friday,
February 13 through Thursday, February 19
Today we fly to Cocos Keeling Islands. We will spend 7 nights in this paradise.
Day 20-23 Friday, February
20 through Monday February 23
Today we fly to Christmas Island, spending 4
nights.
